Sacraments picture of Saint Joseph's Church

St. Joseph Parish is a Catholic faith community providing liturgy and sacraments to its parishioners. For your information and to better participate in the sacraments, parishioners are encouraged to make appropriate educational, spiritual, and scheduling preparations as indicated below.

Infant Baptism

Ordinarily, Baptisms are celebrated on the first Sunday of each month at 11:30 a.m. or during weekend Masses. Baptisms are NOT celebrated during the Season of Lent. Parents should arrange to attend Baptismal Preparation and choose their Baptismal Liturgy by contacting the Parish Office at least two months in advance.

First Eucharist

Preparation for First Eucharist is facilitated through the parish Faith Formation program. Please contact the Faith Formation Office for more information or visit their web page at www.stjoseph.belmont.ma.us/faithformation.

Confirmation

Preparation of high school students for Confirmation is facilitated through the parish Faith Formation Program. Please contact the Faith Formation Office for more information.

Matrimony

Registered parishioners should contact the Pastor as far in advance as possible regarding wedding plans. The Archdiocese requires the couple to complete pre-Cana preparation before the marriage. To arrange for a desired date, it may be necessary to contact the parish a year or more in advance.

Annointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of Annointing of the Sick is celebrated communally on occasion and available individually by contacting the Parish Office. Anyone who is anticipating hospitalization, is seriously ill or advanced in age may request this sacrament.

Communion of the Sick

Any parishioner who is unable to attend Sunday Mass due to illness or handicap may request Holy Communion in their home. Please contact the Parish Office to arrange a visit.

Funerals

The Catholic Funeral Rites consist primarily of three moments: the Vigil Service (often celebrated the night before as part of the wake), the Funeral Mass and the Rite of Committal (at the graveside). Since this is an extremely emotional time for any family, the sooner a priest/lay minister can be invited into the planning, the easier it is to prepare for these important liturgies. Please contact the Parish Office as soon as possible to make arrangements.
