The History of Saint Joseph Parish |
|
The history of our parish was compiled in two stages, the first for the 75th Anniversary in 1975 and then the last twenty-five years were added for the 100th Anniversary in 2000. The 1975 portion was written by Dr. John E. O'Laughlin and the 2000 portion by Francis X. Finigan. Both gentlemen cited as their sources Priests, Parishioners, Parish Records, Bulletins, Visitation Reports, The Belmont Herald and The Belmont Citizen.
This electronic version was scanned and digitized by Gerald F. Cahill in 2008 for use on the parish web page. The history is broken into sections in accordance with that used by the Centennial version. Each section is in a PDF file format that will require the use of the Adobe Acrobat Reader which is freely available at www.adobe.com/products/reader/. If you don't have this program on your computer please download this free program to your computer before trying to read this fascinating history of our parish.
